Annie Terry Payne

Class of 2007

Biography

She earned a total of 19 varsity letters at ACHS. She placed in the top 3 in both indoor and outdoor track all 4 years, making 2 appearances at states. She was named All-District in volleyball twice. In softball, Annie is a 3 time 1st team All-District, 3 time All-Region, and 2-time All-State honoree and was named 2008 Dogwood District Player of the Year. In basketball, Annie was named first team All-district 4 times, All-Region 3 times and All-State twice. She is the 3rd All Time Leading scorer at ACHS, scoring over 1000 points. She also holds the career 3-point record. Annie continued her basketball career at Lynchburg College, where she was the starting point guard for three years and was the Hornets captain for two years. She earned a Bachelors in Exercise Physiology from LC and went on to earn a Master’s in Education and an Ed Specialist degree in Educational Leadership. She has coached varsity basketball at Liberty and Heritage High Schools and softball at Liberty and Nelson High Schools. She was a coach of the Lynchburg Legends, a men’s semi-pro basketball team in their inaugural season. Annie is the current Assistant Principal at ACHS.
