Dennis Carter
Biography
Dennis Carter is a native of Danville and graduate of Danville Community College in 1977 and Virginia Tech in 1979. His broadcasting career spans more than 42 years, beginning at WBTM/WAKG Radio in Danville in 1979, and highlighted by 37 years at ABC 13 in Lynchburg. Dennis is now working part-time as co-host of The Sportsline on WLNI Radio in Lynchburg. He's been honored numerous times by the Virginia Association of Broadcasters and the Virginia Associated Press Broadcasters and is a past recipient of the Virginia High School Coaches Association Marshall Johnson Award for Outstanding Coverage of high school sports in Virginia. He's been inducted into the Danville Community College and Amherst County Sports Halls of Fame. And in 2020, Dennis was elected to the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame. Dennis is a graduate of G.W. in Danville, but a longtime supporter of the team he proudly proclaims the Appomattox RAAAAAiders.
