Ty Gafford

After graduating from ACHS in 1990. Ty attended Lynchburg College from 1990 to 1994; graduating in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. Ty then went on to teach and coach in Lynchburg City Schools from 1995 to 2006. He was the head Varsity Girls' Basketball coach during that time. In 2019 Ty was inducted into the Heritage High School Athletic Hall of Fame. He received a Master's Degree from Lynchburg College in 2008 and worked in Campbell County Public schools as an administrator from 2008 to 2021; serving as assistant principal and then principal of Altavista Combined School. Ty returned to Lynchburg City Schools as the principal of Perrymont Elementary School from 2021-2022. Currently, Ty serves an Executive Director for the Virginia High School League in Charlottesville VA. He is husband to wife Kim, dad to son Marcus, daughter Carson, two cats, Pickles and Olive and a beagle named Charlie. Ty would like to honor his mother and father, Welton and Wanda Gafford because without them he would not be standing here tonight to be recognized for this great accomplishment.
