Doug Smith

He is the father of 3 children – Nichole, who is married to Matt Horn, and they are the parents of Coach Smith’s grandchildren – Luke and Aubrey Horn. Noelle, who is married to Sam Hunt and Coach Smith’s youngest, is his son, Austin Smith. He is a 1981 High School graduate from Frederick Douglass Senior High School, Upper Marlboro, MD. He attended College and Played football at Liberty University from 1981-1985 and graduated from Liberty University in 1987. He coached the Wide Receivers under Morgan Hout at Liberty University 1986-1987​. He received a Masters Degree in Leadership from Lynchburg College in 1995. He was a teacher, Football and Track Coach and Athletic Director for 5 years at William Campbell HS from 1987-1992. He then was a teacher, Football and Track Coach for 20 years at Heritage HS from 1992-2012. He has been teaching and coaching at Appomattox County High School since 2012.
